Will Grimm is a fiber artist whose work examines memory, identity, and lived experience through the language of textiles. Rooted in the traditions of stitching, dyeing, and weaving, his practice emphasizes improvisational techniques and labor-intensive processes that center personal storytelling and material intuition. His work reflects a deep engagement with themes of time, memory, and the emotional resonance of materials. Grimm’s practice is anchored in a belief that textiles are not only vessels for safety, but also powerful tools for reflection, connection, and cultural storytelling.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Grimm began sewing at a young age under the guidance of his grandmother. He earned a BFA in Fiber from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2019 and is currently pursuing an MFA in Fiber at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture. His work has been exhibited nationally in cities including Baltimore, Cleveland, and San Diego, and featured in publications such as Fiber Art Now, Curated Quilts, and BMoreArt.
